Writer and director Dulce Mejía Morales approached me to design the main title, graphics, title credits, and end credits for her romantic dramedy short film following confrontations of love, infidelity, and sisterhood in a maternity clinic.
In our initial discussions, Dulce’s vision was clear: big and bold, but delicate. In suit, I developed a typographic ensemble comprised of a heavy sans serif, a lighter serif for contrast, and a script font for some added flare. These type choices appear in chapter titles throughout the film and its credits. For one of these titles, “MOTHER. FUCKER,” I rotoscoped the character over the type in order to emphasize the juxtaposition with some dimension.
